The Silesian Sculpture Gallery is a very atmospheric place. In the vicinity of the Łania restaurant, you can see the remains of the plein air sculpture workshops organised in the 1960s by the most acclaimed sculptors of the region. The plein air workshops were the idea of Teresa Michałowska–Rauszerowa, Jerzy Egon Kwiatkowski and Tadeusz Ślimakowski, who wanted to show the regional art to the visitors in the Silesian Park, and exhibit the artworks so that they fit seamlessly with the natural space of the park. The practical realisation of their concept, which included installing permanent exhibitions which the visitors would be able to enjoy every day, began at the turn of the 1970s and 1980s with 7 plein air exhibitions, during which the jury decided which artworks would become permanent fixtures in the park.

Over 30 sculptures have survived to this day, reminding visitors of the dominant styles in Silesian sculpture in the second half of the 20th century, and lending a unique, magical aura to the place.
